New partnerships with HealthTap, Walgreens, and iFIT boost the platform's health hub credentials
Samsung is significantly upgrading its Health platform with three new features designed to make the data from devices like the Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Ring more actionable.
The updates, which begin rolling out on 8 September, add virtual doctor visits, automated prescription tracking, and expert-guided workouts.
As we’ve seen from other wearables brands and platform-makers in 2025, these new features aim to bridge the gap between monitoring and the treatment stage.
To that end, Samsung’s new partnership with HealthTap will allow users to book virtual doctor visits directly within the Health app, providing a more convenient way to consult with a professional and potentially share their wearable data.
Another integration with Walgreens will automate prescription management, allowing users to connect their pharmacy account to have their medications automatically appear in the Health Records section and sync with the medication tracker on their Galaxy Watch.
There’s a fitness addition coming, too, thanks to a fresh partnership with iFIT. This will bring premium guided workout content into the Health app, allowing users to follow expert-led video workouts for activities such as HIIT and Pilates directly on their phone. As you would expect, the Galaxy Watch or Galaxy Ring can integrate and track heart rate and other biometrics in real-time.
The Wareable take
This is the latest in a string of strategic moves from Samsung to transform Health over the past couple of years. Instead of simply being a data repository for its wearables, it’s slowly progressing into a comprehensive health service platform.
As best evidenced by Oura, it’s ramping up the number of established partners it’s working with to broaden the reach of its ecosystem. And while the potential need for separate accounts or subscriptions for these new services could create some friction, the ambition is clear.
Samsung wants its wearables to be central to a user’s entire health journey, moving beyond just tracking your stats to actively facilitating your care and training.
